A streetcar suburb built in stone and brick

Hillcrest covers several additions of Pulaski Heights, a town Little Rock annexed in 1916.

It was the city’s first streetcar suburb.

The Hillcrest Historic District joined the National Register in 1990.

A stone house and a brick Cape-style house, both with masonry chimneys, stand in the district.

Robinwood, a wooded river-bluff section, dates to the 1960s and 70s.

Riverdale sits lower by the river, with Rebsamen Golf Course and Murray Park to the west.

Questions

Heights & Hillcrest questions.

Still unsure? Call or text (501) 529-3779 and ask for Jerry.

Can the mortar on my Hillcrest stone chimney be fixed?

Failing joints can be tuckpointed.

Old mortar comes out and new mortar goes in.

Jerry looks at it and tells you what the chimney needs.

Water that gets into open joints freezes and cracks stone and brick.

How often should an older Heights chimney be swept?

NFPA 211 says chimneys, fireplaces and vents should be inspected at least once a year.

Cleaning or repair follows when needed.

The U.S.

Fire Administration tells homeowners the same.

Do you cover Cammack Village or just Little Rock?

Both.

We cover all of Little Rock, including Hillcrest, the Heights, Riverdale and Robinwood, and everywhere within 30 miles of it.

Cammack Village is its own city beside the Heights, well inside that radius.
