Chimney Sweeping & Cleaning, done right.

Every fire you build leaves a little behind in the chimney.

Soot and creosote coat the flue, a thin layer at a time.

A sweep takes it back down to clean masonry before it can cause trouble.

Jerry’s Chimney Sweep cleans chimneys all over Little Rock.

What it covers

What a sweep covers

  1. The flue, top to bottom

The full run of the flue gets brushed clean, so smoke has a clear path up and out of the house.

  2. Smoke chamber and shelf

The space just above the damper collects the heaviest buildup. It gets cleaned along with the flue.

  3. Damper check

We make sure the damper opens all the way and shuts tight, so heat stays in the room.

  4. Firebox and hearth

Ash and debris come out of the firebox. Cracked firebrick or gaps get pointed out while we are there.

  5. A look at the top

While the flue is clean we look over the cap and crown. If something needs repair, you hear about it first.

  6. Clean up before we go

Customers mention it in their reviews: the work area is left clean. The soot leaves with us, not on your rug.

Know your creosote

Creosote builds in three stages.

Every wood fire leaves some behind. The longer it sits, the harder it gets, and it all burns.

  • Stage 1Loose and sooty

Dark, dusty soot that brushes off. This is what a yearly sweep keeps it to.

  • Stage 2Flaky and crunchy

Black, crusty flakes that build in layers. It takes more work to get out.

  • Stage 3Hard and glazed

A shiny, tar-like coat on the flue. The hardest to remove, and it burns hot.

Watch for this

Signs your chimney is due

  • Smoke drifts back into the room instead of going up the chimney
  • A strong, smoky smell from the fireplace, worst on humid or rainy days
  • Black, flaky or shiny tar-like buildup you can see inside the flue
  • Fires are harder to start or burn poorly with good, dry wood
  • It has been more than a year since the last sweep
  • Bits of debris, leaves or nesting falling into the firebox

How it goes

How a sweep visit goes

  1. You call or text, and Jerry sets a time.

Customers say it in their reviews: Jerry shows up on time.

  2. The flue, smoke chamber and firebox get cleaned, and the damper gets checked.

Anything that looks wrong gets shown to you, in plain words, before any repair is discussed.

  3. When the sweep is done, the work area gets cleaned up.

You can light the next fire knowing what is above it.

Little Rock

Little Rock fire season

Little Rock winters are short, but the cold snaps are real, and that is when fireplaces get used.

Book the sweep before the first cold night, not after it.

The NFPA 211 standard says to inspect chimneys at least once a year.

Clean them when they need it.

A yearly sweep keeps you ahead of it.

Questions

Chimney sweeping questions.

Still unsure? Call or text (501) 529-3779 and ask for Jerry.

How often should a chimney be swept?

The NFPA 211 standard calls for an inspection at least once a year.

Cleaning follows when needed.

If you burn wood often through the winter, plan on a sweep every year.

What is creosote, and why does it matter?

Creosote is the tar-like residue wood smoke leaves in a flue.

It builds in layers, from loose soot to a hard glaze.

It is flammable, and buildup is what feeds a chimney fire.

Will a sweep make a mess in my house?

The goal is the opposite.

Reviews of our work mention a great clean up.

The soot leaves with us.

Can you come on a weekend?

Yes.

We are open 7 days a week, 8 AM to 8 PM.
